LHU leaders present at international conference on AI and Policymaking for Higher Education

On March 10 - 11, 2026, representatives of LHU, Associate Professor Dr. Lam Thanh Hien, Rector and Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Vice Rector, attended and presented at the international conference “AI and Policymaking for Higher Education: ASEAN Insights and Innovations” held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The conference brought together policymakers, academic experts, and university leaders from across ASEAN and Europe to discuss emerging trends in the application of AI in higher education governance and policymaking in the context of global digital transformation.

At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Thanh Hien, Rector of LHU, delivered a presentation titled “AI Capacity Building for Policy and Governance” sharing strategic perspectives on the application of AI in university governance and education policymaking.

AI strategy for modern university governance

In his presentation, Dr. Hien introduced a strategic AI framework for universities aimed at enhancing educational quality, improving governance efficiency, and strengthening research capacity. The model is built on five key pillars: AI applications in teaching and personalized learning experiences, AI in university governance and decision-making support, AI to advance scientific research and big data analysis, AI in student services, and AI supporting digital transformation and process automation.

Accordingly, the university data ecosystem integrates information from learning management systems, admissions platforms, student administration, and research management systems, forming an AI- and data-driven university model.

Dr. Hien further emphasized that AI does not replace humans in education but serves as a powerful academic support tool, enhancing research productivity, enabling personalized learning, and strengthening the decision-making capabilities of educational administrators.

Strengthening academic connections and regional cooperation

In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Vice Rector of LHU, participated in thematic discussions on AI policy, innovation in education, and opportunities for collaboration among universities across the ASEAN region.

During the academic exchange sessions, LHU representatives shared Vietnam’s perspectives on developing a digital education ecosystem and exchanged experience in international cooperation in education, research, and educational technology development.
